A weekend getaway...

Josh and I hopped in the car with Craig and Patricia to make a quick trip down to Monticello and Moab this weekend. We had fun hanging out at Grandma Codner's house and helping her with little projects while she made us yummy homemade food. We also got to go to Moab just the two of us and hike up to a water hole, take pictures at the famous dead horse point and the Wilson's arch, and play on a huge sand hill with Cali. Then before we knew it, it was time to get back in the car and head home, we were having too much fun and were bummed to leave and get back to reality, but hopefully we will be able to go back in a month. Thanks for letting us tag along Craig and Patricia!!

Hiking Zion's on Labor Day

This weekend Josh and I spent the night on cold cement with blankets and pillows in the long line so that we could get one of the very few permits to hike the famous subways in Zion's national park on Labor day. It was a 10 mile hike up a beautiful river between two huge peeks to get to the tunnels and pools known as the "subways." We hiked for 7 hours all together, running into tons of frogs, snakes, and bugs... it was tough but when we got to the waterfalls and pools it was SOO worth it! If your ever in St. George you gotta go on this hike its absolutely beautiful!

enjoy!

this is what we ended up at, beautiful pools and waterfalls

this is what a lot of the hike was up to the subway, nice
cool water with lots of pretty fish

this is how the hike started and begun, I was a little scared
because the path was sooo skinny and to the right was a cliff
if you tripped you were gone.

pretty view

believe it or not the trail down to the river was along that
plato... it was so scary!

goodbye Kansas... hello California!

The Summer has come to an end :( it was a great summer for us to say the least. We really enjoyed our time in good ole Overland Park Kansas, but we were really excited to get on the road and have a week of fun in the Sun at my parents house in Orange county. The night before we left we went to the JACK JOHNSON concert!! Josh surprised me with tickets for my birthday and I was sooo excited, I have been wanting to go to his concert for years. It was amazing, best concert I have ever been to. The next day we made the long 28 hour trek there in a day and a half, it was a miserable drive with one flat tire and two migraines, But we made it just in time to suprise my little brother. We had a blast going to the beach just about every day, going out with friends, getting pedicures, going to an angels game and just enjoying my family. I love you MOM and DAD! Thank you SO much for everything you do and for the fun times last week, and Colby thanks for going Skimboarding with Josh almost everyday you really made his week awesome!!

Enjoy!

Lately...

Josh and I rescued a little kitten the other night. She was crying pretty loud right outside our door and the poor thing is TINY, so of course because I have a huge love for animals I had to take her in and help her. I gave her a bath and fed her, she was purring like a helicopter the rest of the night. She is so playful and sweet. Cali love LOVES her its so cute to see them play together, but unfortunately we gotta find a home for her. If anyone from elite in Kansas wants her please let me know, we have to find her a home here in kansas this week.

Last night we went to go see my favorite STEP UP 3D!! We went to Kansas city with Adam and Jenny and had a really yummy dinner at Ted's, a nice southern restaurant. We ate the best burgers!! The movie was 3D and the seats had speakers in them so every time there was music it would vibrate your whole chair, pretty cool. The movie was everything I hoped for, including cheesy :)

they gave us some sweet glasses we got to keep...

Historic Nauvoo... road trip!

At the last minute we piled in the car and decided to road trip down to Nauvoo this weekend. We drove down Saturday and made it just in time for the famous pageant. Which happened to be the last pageant of the year! We had a great time that night other than the fact that we were all eaten ALIVE by bugs and we had to drive almost an hour away to find a hotel that wasn't booked. The one hotel that had vacancy's was pretty disturbing. We piled into smoke filled rooms with bug catchers hanging from the sealing. lovely. Despite our interesting hotel experience we managed to have a great trip, visiting the historic temple and sites in Nauvoo and ending up at Carthage jail. It was a spiritual experience we will never forget. This is a once in a life time trip that everyone needs to go on! Nauvoo truly is beautiful.

Enjoy!

are we there yet?

the same spot where Joseph died.. there was a truly
peaceful spirit here.

Praise to his mem'ry, he died as a martyr;
Honored and blest be his ever great name!
Long shall his blood, which was shed by assasins,
Plead unto heav'n while the earth lauds his fame.
Hail to the Prophet, ascended to heaven!
Traitors and tyrants now fight him in vain.
Mingling with Gods, he can plan for his brethren;
Death cannot conquer the hero again.
